Avon is the world’s No. 1 fund raiser for the breast cancer cause.

Over $7.5 million raised by Australia.

US$525 million donated world wide.

In March 1996, Avon Australia launched its Breast Cancer Crusade by offering specially designed Pink Ribbon products for sale in the Avon Brochure. In 2002 the ‘Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer’ initiative was added. Thanks to the dedication of Avon Sales Representatives, an amazing $7.5 million dollars has been raised to date.

Avon donates the funds raised to two organisations: the Australian New Zealand Breast Cancer Trials Group (ANZ BCTG), which conducts a national breast cancer clinical trials research program for the prevention and cure of breast cancer; and the YWCA Encore Program, which provides community support, through exercise and counselling, to women who have had breast cancer surgery.

The Australian New Zealand Breast Cancer Trials Group.

Ongoing support is critical for breast cancer research. Thanks to Avon's support, important new research programs can be funded which can benefit women in Australia and throughout the world.

Professor John Forbes of the ANZ BCTG said: "The ongoing support we receive from Avon is an investment in the lives of Australian and New Zealand women. Our research programs are expensive to conduct and can take a long time to get results. We need all the support we can get to obtain reliable results at the earliest opportunity. With more funding we can use new molecular and genetic research to create treatments for younger and older women diagnosed with breast cancer and new prevention strategies for more women. Avon and its wonderful Sales Representatives can be proud that they are contributing to our knowledge of breast cancer and saving lives every day."

The YWCA Encore Program.

The Encore Program provides excellent support, through exercise and counselling, to women who have undergone breast cancer surgery. Avon’s support has helped Encore grow from just one program in one community in Melbourne, to now be available to thousands of women all across Australia.

It is specifically designed for women who have experienced mastectomy, lumpectomy or breast reconstruction surgery. It is based around floor and pool exercises and relaxation techniques that are safe, fun and therapeutic. The aim is to improve mobility and flexibility in arms and shoulders, boost self esteem...and create a positive attitude to life and health.

Our committed Sales Representatives also distribute 2 million flyers each year to households throughout Australia, promoting the importance of monthly breast self-examination and mammograms.

Avon Representatives and their Customers, in Australia and the world over, should be applauded for their generosity and continuing support of this wonderful cause.
